Freedom River is designed to be a comprehensive outdoor recreation center located in Livingston County, Michigan, and assists in re-assimilation of U.S. military service members, veterans, and their families. Located on 94 acres on the Huron River and Gill Lake, Freedom River will be free for veterans, active military, and their families. Our idea is simple – to deliver a peaceful place for veterans and their families where they can relax, recover, and rejuvenate in Michigan’s beautiful outdoors. We are building a strong community of veterans and like-minded allies that share our passion for veterans and their loved one’s well-being. Freedom River will be a unique place for veterans and their families to connect physically, emotionally, and spiritually to combat the isolation and repercussions of loneliness, PTSD, depression, and all that comes with the re-assimilation to civilian life.

Veterans can specifically benefit from being in nature, exercise, sunlight, campfire therapy, and community building. Programs will promote physical and mental well-being, foster a sense of belonging, and provide opportunities for personal growth and skill development. As we strive to expand our offerings, Freedom River remains committed to serving veterans and their families by providing meaningful and impactful outdoor recreation experiences.
